Working the principles in a warm-up with 'Terrasse Ensemble' (Greek theatre group in Zurich

https://vimeo.com/247295243

I (Eleni) did not take part. I guided the improvisations and observed the participants.

First principle to warm up with was:

- Do a general movement. What a general movement is for you, how does your body respond to the instruction :'do a general movement', what is a general movement in relation to your body parts in relation to the others in space. Observe how rhythm, and qualities of movement are influenced by the instruction 'general movement'. Answer with your body the question : Is there a general movement?

Second principle:

- While still 'doing' a general movement, respond with your body to another principle: collective movement. Now, we still have a general but also a collective movement. What changes? What does the 'collective' add in the body movement ? How is it different to the 'general' when it stands on its own? What changes in movement when a 'general movement' becomes a 'general collective' movement?

Third Principle:

-Specific movement. What changes in the movement, what changes in your body and in the relation to the others when the movement is no longer general, is no longer collective, rather it is specific. What does the instruction 'specific' does to your body? What changes in the quality and rhythm of movement when the movement becomes specific? In relation to the other? In relation to the collective? In relation to the general? what is changed when something becomes specific? Try to place the whole body in relation to this instruction. The body moves 'specifically', what does the specific do to the body as a whole? Find the specific in a different level (lower, higher), or in different relations , what is specific when you change directions?

Fourth Principle

-Specific Collective. The movement continues to be specific but now it also becomes collective. It is a specific+collective movement. What differs from being only specific?

Fifth Principle

-The movement changes and becomes individual (in greek (ιδιωτική και όχι ατομική).

Combinations

-Individual + General

-General + Specific

-Collective + Specific

Only Collective

Collective with one point of touch , one point of connection with each other

Sixth principle:

-Independent Movement. What is the its difference compared to the 'Individual movement', search for the difference.

Following the warm up I guided a workshop as an attempt to share with each other our imaginary private feast, which eventually helped us build a common feast, our feast, and create our dance.

The instruction was to write down what will I bring to my feast (food, drinks, in which place, music, etc) and start our presentation with the line: My feast has...

Each member of the team brought his/her own food and drinks on our imaginary table, and created a different atmosphere, and then each one danced his/her dance, to his/her song.

We all taught each other parts of our private dance and then we created a 'common', a 'communal dance', our dance that was part of our feast.
